Two hunters were fined and had their licenses suspended after being found guilty, earlier today, of illegal hunting.
Stefan Bartolo, 28 of Mosta, was fined a total of €500 and had his shotgun confiscated. His license was suspended for a year after being found guilty of slaughtering a Black Kite, near Ta’ Qali last Novemeber. Despite being warned by a Malta Environment and Planning Authority official of the bird’s protection, Bartolo shot it down from the middle of the road on a Saturday afternoon.
Yannic Fenech, a 21-year-old from Mosta, was also found guilty of possessing a gun and two freshly killed birds during the closed hunting period of February. He was arrested in Salina area by a policeman who followed him from Ta’ Qali.
