Google's new web browser Chrome has gained a market share of just under one percent according to internet market tabbers Net Applications. The sole loser was Microsoft's Internet Explorer as its market share dipped while all alternative browsers registered modest gains.
The public trial version of Chrome showed a speedy, if bug ridden browser of minimalist aesthetics. Speed tests confirmed Chrome as the fastest broswer in terms of start-up, while its Java speeds were only rivalled by Firefox. The software is published in open source format, which means that anyone can view and make use of the code it runs on.
